No Strings Attached Giving from Dick Devos

I find that good deeds are often less likely to garner as much attention as things that people view with disapproval. Dick Devos has been criticized by many for his political donations but only recently has the amounts he has given to charity come into the light. If you compare the two his philanthropy does not in any way match his political donations; it exceeds it by far. It amazes me how each year their donations keep rising.

Dick Devos and his wife Betsy are interested in education charities and also organizations that support education in different states. They have given up to $3 million to education-related causes. They have also donated large sums to groups that are involved in attempts to modify education in the United States. They believe that better education system can provide give a chance to children growing up in low-income areas to better their lives and achieve their goals. By supporting attempts to improve the education system they give the children a chance to achieve their dreams.

They also feel the need to help teachers become more effective in the classroom in order to assist their students better. Over the years their donations have helped specific institutions for instance in the year 2013 their donations benefitted Compass College of Cinematic Arts in Grand Rapids which got fifty thousand dollars and Rehoboth Christian School. Another beneficiary of the Dick Devos generosity is Arts and Culture. They donated two million in 2015, a large percentage of their total donations.

They also donated $22 million to open the Devos Institute of Arts Management at the University of Maryland. Other causes they support include Health and leadership and development. Dick Devos and his wife do not put restrictions on the use of the money they donated as their main agenda is that, a difference is made in someone’s life. Their gift to the Spectrum Health Foundation is a good example. They also support churches such as Willow Creek.
